The Story of Our Rebrand
Ten years ago, Jack founded Son of a Woodcutter with the goal to build heirloom quality furniture that was sustainably crafted and told a story. As we reflect on our journey as Son of a Woodcutter, we cannot express enough gratitude for the support and encouragement we have received from all of you. From our past and present clients to the other makers in Toronto and the flea markets in Leslieville, Parkdale, and The Annex, you have been the foundation of our success.
Now, we embark on a new chapter as Acre Made. This change brings with it not only a new name, but also a renewed commitment to designing and building beautiful things for your home.
Change Is Good
As you might already know, in 2020, we made a huge jump. We said goodbye to high Toronto rents and bought a small farm with a house and a newly built 10,000 sq ft production space near St. Mary’s, Ontario. This new facility has given us the opportunity to improve our processes and our product quality for an even better experience.
We wanted a slower pace of life, and what we found was a rural property with a barn, a garden and a top of the line production facility. Our connection to Toronto runs deep, and its culture continues to inspire us.
Last year, Danielle joined our team. She has brought an eye for design that has allowed us to launch a whole new set of designs, and a retail background that has allowed us to tighten our operations and improve client care.
Why Acre Made?
Acre Made is a nod to our home, as well as Jack’s family name. Acre Made felt like the perfect fit, as it reflects not only the high-quality, handcrafted pieces we build, but also the special place where they are made.
Our decision to rebrand wasn't just about finding a catchy name or a new look. It was about staying true to our values and evolving our business to better reflect the lifestyle and furniture preferences of our customers.
As we embarked on this journey, we realized that we were entering a new era of furniture making, where timelessness, design and quality are more important than ever before. Our rebrand represents our commitment to upholding these principles and continuing to create beautiful, heirloom-quality pieces that stand the test of time.
What You Can Expect from Acre Made
Our new workshop space has helped us to streamline our processes, invest in new equipment, and bring on a new team to help us continue to improve. Our focus on quality and craftsmanship has only increased with these changes, and we're committed to continuing to provide the high-quality products you've come to expect from us.
With the addition of Danielle to the team, we are now able to provide a more personalized and design-focused experience. We are now able to offer a wider range of products, as well as make shipping a smoother and more transparent process for you.
Our commitment to sustainability remains a top priority, and we're proud to partner with local suppliers and use sustainable materials whenever possible. Our core collections will still be made right here in Canada and we’ll be exploring new collaborations with local makers.
